Davies Technology Solutions is the specialised technology and digital innovation division of the Davies Group, a global professional services company. While the parent company is deeply established in corporate solutions and highly regulated markets, the tech division is the engine building the platforms, software, and digital products that power those services.
The Ask
The main Davies Group possesses a highly established, traditional, and corporate visual identity. However, Davies Technology Solutions needed its own distinct voice.
The brief was multi-layered: I needed to conceptualise and execute a fresh visual identity that separated the tech division from the rigid corporate feel of the parent brand, specifically injecting a sense of "playfulness" and highlighting the "human element" within their tech.
Beyond aesthetics, the platform needed to perform. A core commercial objective was to improve the site's Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) to drive organic traffic, while simultaneously establishing clear, frictionless pathways for users to contact the company, request information, and ultimately generate qualified sales leads. This entire system then needed to scale across both the digital gateway and physical marketing collateral.
What I Did
I designed a brand evolution that bridged the gap between complex code and warm human experience, ensuring the end product was as commercially effective as it was visually striking.
Establishing a "Playful" Visual Flow: I stepped away from the strict constraints of the parent brand. To capture the requested playful tone, I introduced an organic, dynamic visual language utilising curved shapes. This allowed the identity to flow naturally across the screen and the page, breaking away from traditional, rigid corporate grids.
Designing for the "Human Connection": I avoided cliché "abstract server racks" and generic tech tropes. Instead, I anchored the art direction with bold, vibrant photography of people, pairing it directly with hand-drawn doodle illustrations. This bespoke combination brought a tangible, relatable human touch to the design, ensuring the interface felt like it was made by people, for people.
Engineered for Discovery & Conversion: A beautiful site is only effective if it’s found. I designed the site architecture and page structures with SEO best practices at the forefront to ensure high search engine visibility. To capture this new traffic, I mapped out intuitive user journeys featuring strategically placed Calls to Action (CTAs) and streamlined contact forms, making it incredibly easy for prospects to request demos or more information without feeling aggressively "sold" to.
Building a Cohesive Omnichannel Ecosystem: I successfully translated this new, digital-first visual language into physical marketing collateral. The commercial brochures mirrored the website's clean, modern aesthetic, utilising the same flowing curves, hand-drawn doodles, and vibrant photography to ensure a seamless brand experience from the search bar to the boardroom. I also delivered a set of Figma and PowerPoint templates, providing the commercial team with the tools to self-serve their own decks while maintaining visual consistency.
The Result
I delivered a vibrant, standalone sub-brand that gave Davies Technology Solutions its own compelling identity, while maintaining a respectful, subtle nod to its parent company's heritage.
The new visual system successfully humanised their software suite, using playful illustrative elements to transform complex technical capabilities into accessible narratives. By pairing this engaging aesthetic with a rock-solid SEO foundation and an optimised user experience, the website evolved from a static information portal into a vital bridge between the product and new business opportunities.
